Shopping trolley flung on to railway line at Kidsgrove

A shopping trolley flung on to railway tracks at Bathpool Park has caused substantial damage to a passing train. The incident took play early today and resulted in train cancellations and disruption of train services between Kidsgrove, Stoke-on-Trent and Manchester.

British Transport Police said: “The train was taken out of service leaving delays and cancellations for passengers for the rest of the day.”

If you have any information relating to this incident then please contact British Transport Police.

This incident is particularly sad as The Friends of Bath Pool park have worked very, very hard to ensure the revival of Bath Pool Park.

Rugby Pitch at Bathpool

The rugby pitch at Bathpool Park was subjected to numerous complaints.  At one time, it was impossible for the Linley Rugby Club to use the rugby pitch as the ground was water-logged.  I’m pleased to report that the ground has seen the introduction of below ground water pipes and this has reduced the flooding of the pitch.

Welcome to the Friends of Bathpool Park

The Friends of Bathpool Park are a group of volunteers who act as custodians for one of Kidsgrove’s  much-beloved parks.  The volunteers consist of local residents from every walk of life and whom all share a vested interest in bringing Bathpool Park back to the people of Kidsgrove and its surrounding district.

Margaret Astle is the chairman of the Friends of Bathpool Park and she has been working quite assiduously with the volunteers.  The group has been successful in attracting funding of half a million pounds in the last five years.   The group meet on a monthly basis at Kidsgrove’s Victoria Hall and also at Kidsgrove Working Men’s Club.

This once neglected park has been transformed and it’s a pleasure to take a gentle stroll in Bathpool.  You can visit the beach, take part in gentle excercise by using the health equipment that is placed throughout the park [this equipment was kindly funded by the NHS trust], you can take part in fishing, rugby, horse riding, skiing, mountain biking, basketball, netball and not forgetting the new children’s play area.

Lighting has been installed, footpaths have been upgraded and there are numerous seating areas and picnics table too.

Why don’t you pop along and visit Bathpool Park?

You’ll be amazed by the makeover and there’s more surprise in store.
